Christian Education

Central Christian Church offers a variety of Christian Education activities and experiences for all ages.

Infants – Children of all ages are welcome at our church.

Baby Dedications – Parents of newborns/infants often make arrangements with the ministerial staff to have their children brought forward and “dedicated” during a Sunday morning church service of their choosing. The parents pledge to raise their child(ren) in a Christian manner, and members of the congregation pledge to support the parents and child in that Christian upbringing, up to and through the time when the child is old enough to make a decision to be baptized and become a member of the congregation (usually around 6th grade).

Nursery Care – Parents may choose to have their children with them in the sanctuary during Sunday morning services, or they may avail themselves of the free nursery care that’s available from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Parents of children up to age 3 can get more information from the nursery staff.

Preschool through 4th Grade – Youth are a vital part of our congregation, and we offer programs for their spiritual education.

Sunday School – Sunday School classes are offered for ages 4 through 4th grade during the school year. Children sit with their parents/grandparents in the sanctuary for the start of church services (beginning at 10:10 a.m.), they come forward for the Children’s Time following communion, and then they leave with their Sunday School teachers for class time during the remainder of the church service, which ends between 11:15 and 11:30. While with their teachers in the upstairs classrooms, the children sing songs, hear Bible stories, do arts/crafts projects, and enjoy time with their friends. Parents are welcome at any time in the classrooms.

Vacation Bible School/VBS – Each year the Christian Education Committee hosts a Vacation Bible School for all preschool and elementary youth, open to church members and the entire community. Dates and times vary from year to year, but the event is usually held for two or three evenings, plus a Saturday morning sometime during the summer. Participants learn Bible stories, play games, enjoy snacks, and create some artworks. They also generally learn songs or skits that are then performed for the congregation on the Sunday following VBS. Dates and times for the 2012 VBS will be posted here as soon as they are decided upon.

5th through 8th Grade – Middle school is an important time in a young person’s life, and our congregation’s youth in this age participate in a JYF (Junior Youth Fellowship) youth group. Their activities revolve around study, service, fun, mission and fellowship. More information can be found on our Youth Group web page.

9th through 12th Grade – These are our future church members and leaders! The high school youth participate in a CYF (Christian Youth Fellowship) youth group. Although they have separate meetings from the middle school youth, the high schoolers also engage in study, service, fun, mission and fellowship. More information can be found on our Youth Group web page.

Adults – A Sunday School class for all adults is offered from 9 to 10 a.m. each Sunday morning (September through May) in our church library, located in the basement just off of Fellowship Hall. Participants enjoy exploring the Bible and discussing faith issues  and questions each week. Adults at all stages of their faith journey are welcome to attend.

Live, Love & Learn – Central Christian Church offers a unique Live, Love & Learn Sunday School class for adults with mental disabilities. This longtime CCC ministry includes Bible stories and lessons, discussions, and arts and crafts activities. The class is held during the school year (September through May) from 9 to 10 a.m. The classroom is beside the kitchen in the church basement, and is accessible for anyone with physical disabilities or impaired mobility.

Pastor's ClassThe Pastor's Class experience is open to all youth, 6th grade through 12th grade, who want to become members of the church and be baptized.  Adults interested in being baptized at Central Christian Church can contact any of the church elders.
